The Final Verdict

As you can see from the section on their differences, it’s a close call between the Waste King L-8000 vs InSinkErator Evolution Excel. In terms of appearance, ease of use and value for money, the Waste King L-8000 comes out on top. For materials and grinding capability, it was the InSinkErator.

When we tried to install these garbage disposals we noticed that the InSinkErator was easy to install if you were replacing an older InSinkErator model, it wasn’t as simple if not. We are still baffled as to the lack of power cord.

Both models have the same power motor however the L-8000 has a higher RPM. While testing the two with various types of waste we noticed very little difference in their abilities. On this subject, please be wary of the reviews you read. Garbage disposal is designed to grind waste from your plates. This waste should already be in small pieces. Any garbage disposal is going to have issues when you try and stick a whole piece of broccoli down it!

Both models were also very quiet, but if we had to choose a winner, the InSinkErator is slightly quieter. There are no points for this, but we do love the originality of the brand name.

The overall winner is the Waste King L-8000. It is an excellent machine that does a great job in busy household kitchens. It is quiet, lightweight and powerful. The 20-year warranty shows just how much faith Waste King has in its products. We couldn’t find any reason to justify spending more than double the cost of the L-8000 for a garbage disposal that doesn’t equally outdo it. If you are someone who appreciates good customer service, you will be glad you chose the Waste King L-8000.
