For Whom Calphalon Classic Is Intended?
If you are looking to upgrade your cookware set, it would be smart to consider the Calphalon Classic 10-piece set. And it is definitely an upgrade to your old non-stick flaky bottomed pans. Having the right tools for the job is essential to anything you are doing. These weapons of cooking consumption are absolutely the right tools. This set is durable but lighter in weight compared to other brands. But this just makes them easier to handle, without sacrificing sturdiness. This also keeps the price down compared to tri-ply or 5-ply, and comparable in price to all stainless cookware manufactures. Once you read this, I believe that you will find the small details about this set, make it stand out from the rest of the pack. Food will have a tendency to stick to the stainless steel pan bottoms, but with practice and technique, this will cease to be a problem.

What’s included in Calphalon Classic 10-piece set
You won’t be able to wait to get home and open the box. What you will find inside is an 8-inch fry pan and a 10-inch fry pan. You will also get a 1.5-quart and a 2.5-quart saucepan, both with covers. There’s a 3-quart sauté pan with a cover and a 6-quart stock pot with a cover. The sauté pan cover will also fit the larger fry pan. With this set though, it’s not exactly what’s in the box, as much as what it can do. The saucepans are a little on the small side, with the sauté pan having no separate handle. And this set could use a cover for the small 8-inch fry pan. But that shouldn’t be a deal breaker.
Overview of Calphalon Classic Stainless Steel Cookware Review
Calphalon Classic Stainless Steel Cookware is made from a medium gauge of stainless steel. The bottoms are impact bonded where a disc of aluminum is sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel to increase its heating power. Stainless its self doesn’t conduct heat very well so aluminum is added to the center to help distribute heat evenly. They use extreme friction and very high pressure to bond the two metals together. This set is compatible with induction cook-tops and glass cook-tops, gas, or electric stoves.
The cookware can be used in ovens or your broiler, up to 500 degrees. You can even put them in the dishwasher, even though I suggest hand washing them, to keep the finish in a like new condition. The long riveted handles have stay-cool technology, so if the pan gets hot the handle won’t. The lids are glass to make it easier to inspect your cooking.
They don’t have vents, but they do have built in strainers that can be turned toward the easy pour spout. You won’t have to worry about a separate strainer to drain your liquids, or grease, and fewer dishes to wash. The handles on the covers can get hot if cooking for long periods of time. The pots also have convenient fill lines for measuring your favorite ingredient. The brushed stainless steel finish is both attractive and hides blemishes well. You will look like a pro in your own kitchen. The 3-quart sauté pan lid works for the 10-inch fry pan but its unfortunate there isn’t a separate lid for everything. Most of the bad ratings have something to do with food sticking and making your pots and pans hard to clean. These ratings come from people that don’t understand cooking with stainless cookware. The quality is actually very good and this set should last a lifetime.

Calphalon Classic Stainless Cookware set vs other products in the same category
There are so many types and brands of stainless cookware it can be overwhelming when picking out your new set. You might want to ask yourself exactly what cookware pieces you use most often and the ones you may be able to get by without. Some comparable sets would be the Cuisinart MCP-12n Pro. It’s a 12-piece set just slightly higher in price. The steamer insert is definitely an attractive feature and the sauté pan has a helper handle. The Cooks Standard 10-piece cookware set is another comparable brand, considerably lower in price. But in this set you are sacrificing the fry pans for an extra saucepan and lid. Or there’s the Calphalon Signature 10-piece set. It’s a bit more heavy duty but so is the price at over $300 more than the Calphalon Classic Stainless Cookware set we reviewed. Performance wise, the extra money isn’t buying you anything that you can’t do with the Classic cookware set.
The durable impact-bonded construction gives you lasting performance and even cooking. This virtually eliminates hot spots in all your prepared dishes. When it comes to creating great meals for your family, your tools matter just as much as the recipe. And no matter what kind of stove you have this set is ideal for you. And you don’t have to worry about what utensils you are using any longer. Your heavy-duty metal spatula won’t even phase the totally scratch resistant bottoms. And when cleaning your stainless steel, a little Bartender’s Friend will also go a long way in keeping the appearance of your stainless cookware in pristine condition.
