Today we will be looking at two of the WindTunnel models, the Hoover WindTunnel 2 vs 3. These two bagless upright vacuums are full of modern technology and handy features.

WindTunnel 3

This model is black with red features. It weighs more than at 22.3lbs, which is quite a difference. The dimensions are similar, 13 x 15 x 44 inches. It’s only an inch shorter than the WindTunnel 2 but between 2 and 3 inches shorter than average.

Hoover WindTunnel 2 vs 3: Multi-floor cleaning

hoover windtunnel 2 review

A vacuum is supposed to last for years and in that time you might move home, lay a new carpet or add rugs to rooms. It’s a little senseless buying a vacuum that doesn’t clean all types of floors.

WindTunnel 2

It has a multi-floor brush roll that works equally well on hard floors and carpets with just the touch of a button. There are 5 levels of height you can choose between.

WindTunnel 3

To switch between hard floors and carpets there is a pedestal to press. It also has 5 levels of height.

Hoover WindTunnel 2 vs 3: Cleaning abilities

hoover windtunnel 3 review

A vacuum is an investment to make life easier. It should have powerful suction to remove dirt and debris rather than just blow it further away.

WindTunnel 2

It has multi-cyclone technology and 2 channels of suction. The brush removes surface debris and lifts the dirt away. It also has an Advanced Allergen Block and odor-absorbing carbon.

WindTunnel 3

The dual cyclonic technology passes the air through to stages to filter it. The 3-channel suction removes debris, lifts away dirt, and sucks away dirt that is embedded deeper.

Pros and Cons

Here you have the opportunity to read some of the pros and cons of the WindTunnel 2 and the WindTunnel 3

WindTunnel 2

Pros:

  • It has excellent suction and cleaning abilities on various surfaces, particularly carpets and rugs
  • It’s relatively quiet and nice and lightweight
  • No suction is lost when you use the attachments

Cons:

  • The base of the dust chamber (to empty dirt) has a plastic hinge that breaks easily

WindTunnel 3

Pros:

  • The crevice tool works better than others
  • It’s easy to maintain and empty the dirt tank
  • It works very well on pet hair

Cons:

  • It has a tendency to overheat

The Final Verdict

It’s a close call. In fact, both the WindTunnel 2 and 3 have amazing suction power for the price. The technology can easily be compared to leading brands and double or triple the price.

Finally, we chose the Hoover WindTunnel 2. It weighs quite a bit less which made it better for older people as well.  There was quite a bit more reach with the WindTunnel 2. This definitely made it easy for ceilings and curtain rails.

It also won because of the odor-absorbing carbon. We noticed that this really helped those who have pets. It would have been nice to have the pivoting dusting brush but not enough for us to spend the extra money for.
